1Controller
The controller responsible for the processing described here is Swissplore, Switzerland. For any privacy request, contact hello@swissplore.ch.
2What we process and why
Swissplore keeps data collection to the minimum the service needs:
- Locations you look up. The address, place, or building you choose is sent to official Swiss geodata services (GeoAdmin / swisstopo) and to OpenStreetMap services (including Overpass) to retrieve the public data shown on the map. An address tied to where you live is personal data, so only look up what you are comfortable querying.
- Technical data. Standard server logs (IP address, browser/user-agent, timestamps, pages requested) are processed to operate and secure the service.
Swissplore is free, takes no payments, and does not use advertising or analytics trackers, sell personal data, or build advertising profiles.
3Legal basis
We process data to perform the service you request (Art. 31 revFADP; Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to pursue our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4Cookies and local storage
Swissplore uses only storage that is strictly necessary to run the site (for example, remembering your last map view or your language choice). It sets no advertising or analytics cookies, so no tracking-consent banner is required. If tracking is ever introduced, this policy and a consent mechanism will be added first.
5Recipients
We share data only as needed to run the site:
- Our hosting provider — serves the site and stores the server logs above on our behalf.
- Swiss GeoAdmin and OpenStreetMap services — your map queries reach these public services to retrieve data.
6International transfers
Some recipients may process data outside Switzerland and the EU. Where data is transferred to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. A copy of the safeguards is available on request.
7Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected. Server logs are kept for a limited period (typically up to 90 days) and then deleted or anonymised.
8Your rights
Subject to the applicable law, you may request access to your data, its correction or deletion, restriction of or objection to processing, and a portable copy. To exercise any of these, contact hello@swissplore.ch. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the EU/EEA, with your local supervisory authority.
9Children
Swissplore is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16.
10Changes
This policy may be updated as the service evolves. The current version is always the one published here, with the date shown above.
